Just east of Hluhluwe is False Bay Park, which forms part of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, a renowned heritage site which offers estuarine fishing, walking trails and picnic sites.

  • Private Night Drive

    Discover a different side of the African bush on a guided night drive through a private game reserve!

    As darkness falls, the bush comes alive with nocturnal activity, offering the chance to spot species rarely seen during the day. Watch out for Bushbabies, elusive Genets, Civets, Porcupines, and other nocturnal animals.

    With an experienced guide, guests gain a unique insight into the wildlife, sights, smells and sounds of the bush after sunset.

Here are our suggestions for a 3 day stay.

  • DAY 1 - Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park

    Drive your own vehicle and spend the day at the world-renowned and oldest South African game park, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi. Enjoy a packed picnic at the Maphumulo Picnic area, a well situated vantage point.

    OR

    Book a guided safari with Dinizulu Safaris. Feel the wind in your hair in a 4X4 open-vehicle tour led by trained & certified guides with local experience.

    End the day with a braai (barbecue) on the First Light patio with St Lucia Lake views and drinks at the fire pit under the African stars.

  • DAY 2 - Visit Western Shores & Lake St Lucia

    From First Light Guest Home, drive to Mtubatuba and turn left at Nyalazi to the Northern Gate of Western Shores. Enter the park and drive the scenic route through to the exit at the Southern Gate at Lake St Lucia.

    Enjoy delicious seafood or a local curry & cocktail at the St Lucia Ski Boat Club.

    Book an afternoon cruise through the ‘Home of the Hippo” on Lake St Lucia. Get up close and personal with hippo and croc sightings.

  • DAY 3 - Self-Guided Walking Tour at False Bay Park

    False Bay Park forms the western boundary of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. It is easily accessible from Hluhluwe and a ‘must see’ in the area.

    The park’s shoreline runs for over 22 kilometres most of which is accessible via walking trails. The Mpophomeni Trail meanders through dense canopy forest while the Ingwe and Dukandlovu Trails hug the shoreline for several kilometres with superb views of the lake.

    Enjoy a meal at the local hidden gem, Delishh Restaurant.
